Starting in 1928 the German State Railway procured a large number of coaches, at first in riveted and later in welded all-steel construction. ROCO offers important representatives of this class with the coaches Bye 667, AByse 630, Ayse 604 and Dye 973.
Large numbers of these coaches were built. The oldest prototype is the riveted 1st class Ayse 604 which was placed in service in 1930. During 1931-1933 the baggage vans of class Dye 973 were added to the DR inventory, these too were riveted construction. Somewhat younger are the prototypes of the 2nd class coach Bye 667 (1936) and the 1st/2nd class coach AByse 630 of 1938, both were already built in welded construction.
The coach ends next to the 3rd class compartments were provided with double entry doors to permit fast entry and exit of passengers. After the reorganization of the class system the interior layout of the coaches was changed to improve the seating comfort so that former 2nd/3rd class coaches could now be used as 1st/2nd class coaches. During the early years of service of these coaches the end doors were secured only by means of scissored gates. The diaphrag corridor connectors were added later. All coaches are equipped with bogies type "Gorlitz III”.
The models are produced in exact 1:87 scale and exclusive design. Authentic livery and lettering for era IV. Multisectional interior details in several colours, bogies with metal wheel bearings and split axles, providing low-friction, wiper-less 8 point current pickup for interior lighting, available as accessory. Closecouplings are factory installed.
Standard couplings are supplied as well.
